ounded in Paris, France in 1847 by Louis-François Cartier, Société Cartier is a French luxury goods conglomerate company. The company designs, manufactures, distributes and sells jewelry and watches. The brand is famous for its jewelry and wristwatches. In 1904, the Brazilian pioneer aviator, Alberto Santos-Dumont complained to his friend Louis Cartier of the unreliability and impracticality of using pocket watches while flying. Cartier designed a flat wristwatch with a distinctive square bezel. This watch was not only liked by Santos-Dumont but also many other customers. Thus the “Santos” was born. This was Cartier’s first men’s wristwatch.

The company has been a leader in the watch business ever since its first men’s watch. By 1907, Cartier had established branches in New York City, St. Petersburg and London. It has always produced men’s and women’s watches that match the style of the era and are also versatile and timeless and is known as the choice of many royalties and celebrities. In 1856, Princess Mathilde, niece of Napoleon I and cousin to Emperor Napoleon III, made her first purchase from Cartier. The Duchess of Cambridge is seen wearing Cartier watches many times. In recent years, Cartier has become famous for its fabulous luxury jewelry. Engagement rings, necklaces, charms and men’s jewelry are some of the popular Cartier pieces. It also designs a line of gorgeous handbags and wallets with impeccable styling. Pens, jewelry boxes, scarves and fragrances are also available from Cartier.

Elegance and class mixed with excellence while making the rare designs is the signature of the brand. Few of the collections by Cartier are LOVE, Trinity de Cartier, Juste un Clou, Ecrou de Cartier, Amulette de Cartier, Panthère de Cartier, Diamond Collection. Most modern Cartier watches are made of stainless steel or gold, and many are embellished with diamonds. Their tank watches are still popular, and the classic style offers clean lines and simple styling. Choose a Cartier watch that you will want to wear with everything in your closet. Cartier also offers automatic watches, the watches never need a battery, and they never need to be wound manually because they are wound through the motion of the wearer’s wrist. Cartier prides itself on designing men’s watches and ladies’ watches with intricate luxury styling. Cartier watches today can be worn with casual or dressy ensembles, and many fashions are available to suit a variety of tastes.

Both heritage and hereditary aristocracy are particularly important to the enduring identity of Cartier, as well. Further advancing its evolution from a brand into a lifestyle, Cartier partnered with the International Polo Tournament in 1984. The event at Windsor Great Park in the United Kingdom allowed it to introduce itself to the highbrow society of polo players and other professional athletes. Cartier has been sponsoring polo for more than 30 years and supports international events in UK, Dubai and in St Moritz, Switzerland.
