Duke of Sutherland cup started on 20th May 2019 and on 9th June 2019 it had the final match between Andras Tombor’s team Bardon and locally-based Adrian Kirby’s team Cortium.

Who Lifts The Duke Of Sutherland Cup 2019?
The Duke of Sutherland Cup, one of the most important 18-goal competitions of the English season, came to an end on Sunday with the final match between Team Bardon and Team Cortium at Cowdray Park Polo Club.

Both the Teams put up a great show for the audience but Cortium Polo team won the tournament by a score of 8-4.

Alfredo Bigatti scored the first goal for Team Bardon. The Cortium saw a 2-1 lead by the end of the first chukker. The Cortium started the 2nd chukker with a free hit. Team Cortium kept the lead of 3-2 to close the chukker. Bardon laced goals, with two 60 yard penalties failing to find their mark. Elizalde’s 30-yard penalty took Cortium’s score on to 4-2. In the second half, once again Bigatti failed to go through. Kirby took advantage of the moment and scored a goal. Cortium saw a lead of 5-2. Another goal for Cortium came from a 30-yard penalty and chukker 4 ended with Bardon having failed to score over three chukkers.

In the final chukker, a 60-yard penalty awarded to Bardon went out of hand as a furious shot from Podesta was picked up by Elizalde. But Cortium retained the ball and moved their score on to 7-2. Cortium won the throw-in but team Bardon was soon in control. Matias Machado sent a huge hit to Alfredo Bigatti who scored for Bardon. Lastly, with a great team effort, Cortium scored the consolation goal resulting in a final score of 8-4.
