The slightly cold and patiently warm afternoon of 25th October 2019 was all in for the semi finals of the Bhopal Pataudi Cup 2019. With four teams in for the battle, the day was divided into two halves with the first match scheduled at AEC Ground, New Delhi, while the second match was all set to get in action at Jindal Polo Ground, Noida. All said and done, let’s find out who made it to the finals of the Bhopal-Pataudi Cup.

MATCH 1: Rajnigandha Achievers vs 61 Cavalry

The first match of the day started off with Rajnigandha Achievers in action in no time. As soon as the umpire signalled for the play with the throw-in of the ball, Sawai Padmanabh Singh took the early chance and bracketed the first goal for his team. The chukker did not witness any further goals for any of the teams.

The second chukker came with a promise of witnessing more action on the scoreboard. Leaving no stone unturned, Daniel Otamendi grabbed two goals back to back for his team. With this, team Rajnigandha Achievers had a lead of 3 goals while 61 Cavalry was still at zero goals. With the furiousness getting higher, team 61 Cavalry got their first clear chance to grab a goal in the form of 60 yard penalty that was seized by Col Ravi Rathore, VSM.

The third chukker of the match did not see any chances in the scoreboard with both teams unable to seize any more goals. The game started to get only defensive and more active.

The last and the final chukker of the match saw similar fate for both the teams. Both the teams scored one goal each at 60 yard penalty with Daniel Otamendi in action for Rajnigandha Achievers and Col Ravi Rathore, VSM for 61 Cavalry. With this, we had the first finalist of the Bhopal Pataudi Cup 2019, team Rajnigandha Achievers.

MATCH 2: Sona Polo vs Jindal Panther

The second match of the day started of with Jindal Panther on the strike for a 40 yard penalty with Simra Shergill. Unfortunately, he missed the chance and the play went into further action. It was the Raghav Rao from team Sona Polo who took a solo run from one end of the field to another to pack the first goal of the match. Fighting back Simran Shergill in a similar pattern takes a solo run from the middle of the ground to seize the first goal for his team. Standing at an equivalent score both the teams got into action at a fast pace after the half chukker. Team Jindal Panther got a chance of 30 yard penalty shot, which Naveen Jindal missed shortly, but almost compensating the miss, the team once again chanced at a 30 yard penalty which was this time converted into a goal by Naveen Jindal. At this, the chukker ended with Jindal Panther leading the game at 2 goals to 1.

The second chukker of the match started with great applause from the Jindal Panther camp where Venkatesh Jindal solely took the ball to seize it into the third goal for the team. This was followed by a quick and smart goal by Venkatesh Jindal once again where he changed a missing shot into the fourth goal for his team. At this the chukker rested for a half time.

The third chukker started with Simran Shergill at par. He evenly cantered through the goal posts for the fifth goal of the team. This was followed by a confusing and packed defensive move where Simran Shergill snatched the ball into a goal. At this, Jindal Panther maintained their lead with 6 goals to 1. Coming back from halftime of the chukker, team Sona Polo after a collective discussion came up with strategic move. Soon after this, Raghav Rao was able to seize the second goal for team Sona Polo.

The last and the final chukker had everyone’s heart throbbing as soon after the end of these seven minutes would end, we will have our second finalist for the Bhopal Pataudi Cup 2019. The first goal for the chukker was grabbed by Abhimanyu Pathak for his team Sona Polo. With only one minute left in the game, Abhimanyu Pathak grabs one more goal for his team. As if the fate of the game was changing, Abhimanyu Pathak took a 30 yard penalty in favor of him team. At this we had our second finalist.
