GALLOPS OF MOROCCO: NEW DATES, NEW SPONSOR

he second edition of the “Gallops” changes its location from the Sultanate of Oman to Morocco but the Gallops of Morocco will keep an Omani taste since the main sponsor will be the Royal Cavalry of the Sultanate of Oman. The principle of the adventure will remain the same but the dates change and will be now Feb. 25th to March 4th 201: a 200km raid divided in five stages of about 40 km to cover in an “ideal” time. Not too fast, not to slow. Teams are made up of five riders atop local horses.

The starting point of the adventure will be in Arfoud, east of Morocco in the region of Drâa-Tafilalet, for a 200km loop through these high wild gold sand dunes of Merzouga, which marks the beginning of the Saharan desert.

The raid will last six days – five nights in camp – passing through deserted and lunar landscapes whose magic was captured by Hollywood in the famous Hidalgo, Sahara, The Mummy, Le Dernier Vol or yet Queen of the Desert… an adventure where reigns a cinematic atmosphere.

Teams from the Sultanate of Oman (winner in 2014), Morocco, USA, Germany, France, Great-Britain, Italy and Qatar have already confirmed their will to participate in this second edition of the Gallops. To engage, no need to be a specialist of endurance, you just have to know the three basic paces with a great dose of courage and a slack of physical condition. Non-rider companion are very welcome and would enjoy a customized touristic program and the 5* bivouac, without forgetting the delicious Moroccan food which will wait for the competitors at the end of each day to relax with an unexpected party in the middle of the desert.
