ucci is making a bold fashion statement, with its new Star Trek inspired collection.

Gucci’s Fall/Winter 2017 collection’s advertising campaign is taking its queue from the science fiction of the 1950’s and 1960’s, which of course includes Star Trek: The Original Series. Star Trek is an American science fiction media franchise based on the television series created by Gene Roddenberry. The first television series, simply called, Star Trek, and now referred to as The Original Series, debuted in 1966 and aired for three seasons on the television network NBC.

They have different and creative designs, including homages and references to Star Trek including the design of a starship bridge set and transporter room. "As revealed on Instagram in April in a series of videos intercepted from the furthest reaches of our solar system, this season the collection is transported to a parallel universe where a mixed cast of humanoids, aliens, robots and earthlings unite for the Gucci invasion from a galaxy far, far away,” Gucci’s press release reads. “Human characters interact with extra-terrestrial creatures and dinosaurs on Earth and are then beamed up to surreal, psychedelic outer-space landscapes and trippy spaceship interiors, creating wild and fantastical compositions."

The original Star Trek series focuses on the 23rd-century adventures of Captain James T. Kirk and the U.S.S. Enterprise (NCC-1701), a powerful interstellar spacecraft dispatched by Earth-based Starfleet Command to explore the galaxy. Kirk commands a crew of 430 men and women aboard his starship, which can travel at speeds surpassing the speed of light. Kirk’s five-year mission—and his mandate from Starfleet—is to seek out new life and new civilizations, and to boldly go where no man has gone before.

In addition to Michele as creative director and Luchford as photographer/director, Gucci's Fall/Winter 2017 advertising campaign has been realized by art director Christopher Simmonds, hair stylist Paul Hanlon and makeup artist Yadim Carranza.

Gucci decided to inspire its new collection by the arrival from outer space. Inspired by Hollywood classics Star Trek and The Creature From the Black Lagoon, Alessandro Michele directed the Glen Luchford-lenses shoot that combines characters of all species: humans, dinosaurs, alien, robots, and well, several others that can’t quite be categorized in the simplest of terms.

The brand’s eclectic fall 2017 collection, including the full-body sparkle suit that Rihanna wore to Coachella, makes an appearance on models while they run toward a space ship, have an intergalactic romance, and, naturally, teleport. While this interpretation might not be exactly how the most devoted of Trekkies remember the Starship Enterprise, the campaign is one of the most unique and enchanting we’ve seen this year.
