THE HEATED FINALE BRINGS COMFORT TO SURGING JODHPUR WINTER AS SAHARA WARRIORS TRIUMPH OVER SUJAN TO CONQUER THE RAJPUTANA & CENTRAL INDIA CUP (10 Goals)

It was a breezy day as the December winter rushed forward but the heat of the fiery Grand Finale comforted the houseful grandstand at the Rajputana & Central India Cup (10 Goals) Sponsored by Cello World, 20th Jodhpur Polo Season, 2019. The Final was battled out between SUJAN & Sahara Warriors. The players were introduced as SUJAN in blue was ready to take on Sahara Warriors in white. Mr. Nicholas Scortichini and Mr. Angad Kalaan were the umpires and Mr. Gerardo Mazzini was the referee for the match. Mr. Ankur Mishra and Th. Sidharth Singh Rohet were the commentators for the day. Lt. Gen. V. S. Sreenivas, VSM BAR GOC HQ 12 Corps throw in the ball to commence the match.

The match started with a +0.5 goal advantage for Sahara Warriors. The first chukker started in a high-speed demeanor as Daniel Otamendi scored the opener of the Finals. In a pacing up tussle, SUJAN fouled and a 30 yard penalty was awarded in favor of Warriors that was converted by Daniel Otamendi’s straight long hit. Brad Mallet scored the first for SUJAN as the scores at end of first chukker were:

The second chukker began with enticing hustles. Simran Singh Shergill scored a running hit to score his first for SUJAN with Brad Mallet adding another one. For Warriors, Daniel Otamendi scored another one with the 18-year old youngster Amer Randhawa defended a goal and went on to score his first for the Warriors winding the second chukker scores at:

The third chukker began with Mrs. Rathore, sponsor of Cello World throwing in the ball. Trailing on the scoreboard, Simran Singh Shergill displayed his experience to turn the tides in favor of SUJAN by converting a 60 yard penalty by a direct long hit straight onto the goal post. He scored the second at an acute angle that was a treat to the eyes as the grandstand greeted it with a great round of applause. Daniel Otamendi tackled through to score for the Warriors as inspired and in hasty momentum, Simran Singh scored the third one to complete his hat-trick and take SUJAN on a lead at the end of the penultimate chukker with the scores standing:

The fourth and final chukker had all the thrill in the air as both teams locked horns to give it all for the final glory. Simran Singh missed a close attempt as Kuldeep Singh scored for SUJAN to take the lead. But again, Simran Singh came to rescue for SUJAN scoring a lovely goal to get a lead of +0.5 goal. At the end, of the game fortune favored the brave as Warriors kept on fighting and Danel Otamendi scored a goal in the last minute turning the tables and bringing a + 0.5 lead for Warriors to conquer the anticipated Final. The crowd was delighted to witness an enthralling match and applauded both the teams for putting on their A-game with Warriors surmounting SUJAN at a final score of 7.5 goals to 7 claiming the trophy. Lt. Gen. V.S. Sreenivas, VSM BAR GOC HQ 12 Corps, Mrs. Rathore and Mrs. Bhachoo, Cello World Sponsors and H.H. Maharaja Gaj Singhji of Jodhpur were the eminent guests for the day and magnified the felicitation ceremony by awarding the winning trophy and prizes to the winning team, runner up team the umpires, referee and the commentators for the match.
