Benaz/Chandna Beat Mayo College To Claim The Hermes Cup - Arena Polo

Arena Polo is an important part of the Jodhpur Polo Season. The 19th Jodhpur Polo Season witnessed it’s first Arena Polo tournament finals on 5th December 2018. The peculiar tournament commenced on 2nd December 2018 at the Maharaja Gaj Singh Sports Foundation Polo Ground, Jodhpur. The final of the Hermes Cup Arena Polo tournament was played between Mayo College and Benaz/Chandna at 3:00 pm. Mayo College played with -2 handicaps and were awarded a 1.5 point lead before the match. The umpire for the match was Kr Vishwaraj Singh and Kr. Yogeshwar Singh was the referee for the match. Kr. Dhwajraj Singh, the commentator of the match signalled the match to kick off with some great lines about the players and the chief guest.

Benaz/Chandna played in yellow while Mayo College played in white. With a 1.5 point lead, Mayo College was off to a great start. Mayo College took a great lead in the first chukker. Sunny Patel scored two goals for Benaz/Chanda in the first chukker. Bh Hemendra Singh was unstoppable in the first chukker. Scoring 5 goals in the first chukker, he brought Mayo College's score to 6.5 goals in the first chukker. Benaz/Chandna settled at 2 goals in the first chukker. The score after the first chukker was 6.5 - 2 with Mayo College in the lead. Mayo College looked in a great form in the first chukker. The action for the second chukker began with Benaz/Chandna ready to fire some goals to get back in the game. The second chukker witnessed some intense Polo action in the arena. Sunny Patel, one of the key players at Benaz/Chandna Polo team scored two back to back goals as soon as the chukker started to help his team get back in the game. The score was 6.5-4 after Sunny Patel's double. Mayo College didn't fall behind and Bh Nikhlendra Singh scored one to extend Mayo College's lead. The score was 7.5-4 after Bh Nikhlendra Singh's goal. The game was getting difficult for Benaz/Chandna and they were falling behind for the trophy. The chukker was in it's last minutes when Sunny Patel scored two furious goals to get his team near their opponent's score. Benaz Chandna scored 4 goals in the second chukker and their score was 6 goals at the end of second chukker. Mayo College were leading by 7.5-6 after the first half. The third chukker was goalless for Mayo College and it decided the fate of the match. The most important chukker of the match, third chukker witnessed a series of goals from Benaz/Chandna Polo team's players. Benaz/Chandna scored a total of 5 goals in the third chukker and gained a brilliant lead ahead of the last chukker. A goal each from Kr. Ajitesh Singh and Mr. Lokendra Singh helped Chandna/Benaz get ahead in the game. Sunny Patel scored three goals in no time for Benaz/Chandna Polo team to help them take a fantastic lead. The third chukker ended with Benaz/Chandna in the lead by 11-7.5. Benaz/Chandna were on route to the victory. Mayo College tried their best to get ahead but their attack was blocked every time by Benaz/Chandna Polo team's defense. They were able to score just one goal in the third chukker. Mr. Lokendra Singh quickly scored two goals to confirm the victory for Benaz/Chandna Polo team. Benaz/Chandna won the first arena Polo tournament (Hermes Cup - Arena Polo) of the 19th Jodhpur Polo Season after defeating Mayo College by. 13-8.5
