Opening match for Delhi Fall Polo season

The Delhi Polo Season is all set to get into live action with the first polo tournament- Cavalry Gold Cup. The players, horses and the fields are all ready and content to begin the game on the sunny afternoon of 15th October 2019. The first day of the match will conduct one match between the following teams and players:

Sep Ravindra Mang -1 Maj Aman Singh +1
Col GS Pandher, SM +2 Lt Col Sameer Chaudhary +2
Naveen Singh +2 Cdr Akhil Sirohi +2

Chukker 1

 

 

 

 

The first chukker of the first match of the Delhi Polo Season has finally begin with the umpire throwing in the ball. Team Lancers were given a benefit of 0.5 goals according to the rules of the game. at which players of both the teams got into action. Within no seconds, the ASC Col Girdhari Singh team was successful in grabbing the first goal of the match with Dhruvpal Godara taking the lead. The audience hooted in applause in support of the team. The game got into action once again where the ball was tackled by Col GS Pandher in favor of his team. This was soon turned into a goal. At this, the scoreboard rested at 2 goals to 0.5 in favor of ASC Col Girdhari Singh after which the umpire called for the change of horses. Resuming into the game once again, Dhruvpal Godara got into play to score yet another goal for his team.

The second chukker of the match got into action with growing intensity. With 4 minutes and 38 seconds left in the chukker, the game halted due to an injury faced by Col GS Pandher. The medical team immediately came to help and provided the needed aid. The game remained on a pause for some time. Getting back into the game, Col GS Pandher came on with true sportsman spirit. In a penalty shot, Naveen Singh grabbed the fourth goal for his team. Within no seconds, the scoreboard raced towards the fifth goal with Dhruvpal Godara. It was then suddenly followed by sixth and the seventh goal, both scored by Dhruvpal Godara, which also marked his hattrick. With this, the second chukker also ended.

The third chukker started with the audience cheering up for team Lancers, motivating them to bring the scoreboard live. Clustered together at the end of the ground, the game resumes into play. At the initial seconds of the match, it seemed as if team Lancers will get their first goal, but a nice and clean back hander from Dhruvpal Godara nullified the chances. With 4minutes and 45 seconds left into the chukker, the game stopped to resume later with just one umpire from team ASC Col Girdhari Singh. This was soon followed by Naveen Singh grabbing another goal for his team in the form of a 30 yard penalty. In a sudden action, Sep Ravindra Mang seized the ball and balled it towards the goal post, but missed it shortly. He even though got hold of it and turned it for his team but it was missed. This was quickly followed by two back to back goals by Naveen Singh in favor of his team.

At the beginning of the last chukker of the match, the match had already decided its fate. The one-sided match although proceeded. Within 30 seconds, the scoreboard again changed for ASC Col Girdhari Singh with Dhruvpal Godara taking the lead. This was quickly taken forward by Sep Ravindra Mang. With this the scoreboard rested at 13 goals to 0.5 in favor of ASC Col Girdhari Singh. With this, team Lancers finally got into action and scored their first goal with Cdr AP Singh. Soon after this, the game resumed and intensity got high in its dying minutes, so much so that Sep Ravindra Mang ended up breaking his mallet. He quickly changed it and the game once again resumed for the wrapping three minutes. This was followed by two quick goals by Cdr AP Singh in favor of team Lancers. With this, the match wrapped at 13 goals to 3.5.
