The Magic Of The Dying Seconds At The Jindal Panther Shield

After the gorgeous performances at the finale of Jindal Polo Cup, the Noida Polo Season was ready with another tournament.

Setting the play on fire, the action for the 8 goal Jindal Panther Shield commenced from 5th October 2021 to witness the finals of the same on the Sunday, 10th October 2021.

A total of 4 teams had come together to go against one another over a time span of four days.

We don't feel there is hardly anything that can stop the polo players- be it the cloudy sky or the heavy rains or the setting sun- these players are all in for the game.

The first day of 8 Goal Jindal Panther Shield had Sona Polo and Aravali Polo against one another. Keeping the game as neck to neck as possible, the first two chukkers saw a tough combat.

As the game kept moving so did the scoreboard, so much so that Aravali Polo seized the day with 10 goals to 7 against Sona Polo.

You know when they say that one must not lose hope till the very end, they say it right.

To what looked like a one-sided match until the first three chukkers between Jindal Panther and Sujan, who were against one another on the second day of the 8 goal Jindal Panther Shield, turned out magnificently well for Sujan after their great performance.

For the first three chukkers, it seemed as if Jindal Panther as a team had overpowered the opponents, which they surely did with a score of 6 goals against 1. But as the hooter for the last chukker rang, team Sujan galloped high to match up the scoreboard. Although they could not defeat Jindal Panther but gave an applauding performance with 5 goals in response of 6 for Jindal Panther.

If you believe that the fate of the game can not be changed in the dying second, well, you got to watch a game like the first semi-finale of the 8 goal Jindal Panther Shield.

The entire grand stand believed that the match would sweep right into an extra chukker because the scoreboard said 7 all for both Aravali Polo and Sujan- but how did things turn in the last 30 seconds. And it was right when the watch said at the second last second of the chukker that the entire Aravali camp burst with cries of joy.

With a magnificent goal in the end, the team seized their position in the finale with 8 goals to 7 against Sujan who were equally brilliant but fate surely had other plans.

9th October 2021

And when we thought that nothing could beat the craziness of the first semi-finale of the 8 goal Jindal Panther Cup, the second blew our minds even more.

The match started off and in no time, Sona Polo had two goals in their favor against nil of Jindal Panther- the team was already leading, but Jindal Panther as a team wasn't going to watch it all. They geared up to gallop fast and equalled the scoreboard to 2 goals each. This chase of goals and equalling them over and over again happened for most of the time of the match, when in the last chukker it seemed to shape that Sona Polo had seized the day.

But, you can never be sure when it's Polo- the dying seconds can change the game. And so it did. With some of the best players in action, the team bagged two goals back to back, once again equalising the scoreboard to 6 all with no time left into the last chukker. The joy on the face of the ace player, Arjuna Awardee, Simran S Shergill was magnificent when he had the sixth goal in for the team.

It was now time for the extra chukker and to see who would mark the golden goal. Players rushed back into their camps to get onto their best ponies and back on the field they were to test their fate. The umpire threw the ball in and within the early seconds of the extra chukker called out for a foul play, resulting in Jindal Panther getting a penalty shot. And it was the golden boy of Jindal Panther who seized the golden chukker - Simran S Shergill and the team went straight into the finale.

10th October 2021

And they did it again!

The Noida Polo Season has been such a great start for Jindal Panther - with two back to back victories, the team has been on a winning spree.

After bagging the first tournament, the team has successfully won the 8 goal Jindal Panther Shield after defeating the other three teams who participated in the tournament.

The team seized the day with 7 goals to 5 against Aravali Polo.
