The first game of day one of the XI FIP World Polo Championship at Sydney Polo Club featured all four Pool A teams. The first match of the day was between Argentina & USA. The Argentine team scored two goals at the first two throw-ins of the game.The Argentine team displayed their prowess in the field by ceasing every opportunity to score. By half time Argentina already had a monumental lead with 7-4 1/2. While USA still progressed through the chukkas Argentina still managed to defeat USA with a score of 12-7 1/2. Australia and Spain played the second match of the day. While Australia started off by leading the first two chukkas with a score of 5-2, by half time Spain had picked speed and managed to breakeven with a score of 5-5. As the match progressed so did Spain, as they were soon leading by 9-7. However, with the support at their home ground Australia tied the game with less than a minute left for the final chukka. Finally during the additional chukka for golden goal, Australia scored the winning goal as George Hill took a 60 yard penalty.
