Panerai Releases The New Underwater Watch Panerai Submersible Chrono Guillaume Néry
12th December 2018 | Geneva, Switzerland
Panerai relases it new edition honouring the world champion Guillaume Nery for breaking his four world records in underwater diving and presenting an astonishing view of ocean world.
Panerai presents its new elite diving timepiece in collaboration with Guillaume Nery for the SIHH 2019, the Guinness world record athlete with deepest underwater dive. A new professional submersible chronograph that can face any challenge, above and undersea, a markedly unique and impressive entry, exceptionally strong, daring and extremely durable. The watch derives its inspiration from the world champion Guillaume Nery who has broken several weight-free underwater diving world records and has been twice the world champion. He is not just a supremely gifted athlete, but an outspoken ocean ambassador, a sea master, inquisitively adventurous and a talented visual artist who is turning his astonishing underwater experiences into images, videos and clips to create a new horizon for ocean freaks. The watch resembles the audacity, strength and passion of this athlete. Panerai, extensively known for his remarkable creations has manufactured the watch that is exclusively technical and the watch gives the exact effect of sports without much shining or glistening on its dial or surface or case back with adequate amount of substance in its respective place.
This new piece is aptly named the Panerai Submersible Chrono Guillaume Néry edition or, in more technical words, the PAM00982. The watch is water resistant to 300 meters and is fitted with a P.9100 automatic calibre with a power reserve of three days. It is fitted with a unidirectional rotating titanium bezel which accurately displays the location of the dive. The watch is sexy and light, with its titanium case which integrates perfectly with the blue of the ceramic disc applied to the bezel, the blue hands and the blue rubber strap. It has a running seconds counter at 9:00 (which zero-resets when the crown is pulled out – a nice touch), and a 12-hour totalizer at 3:00.
On the right side of the case, Panerai’s trademark crown guard ensures the crown can’t be accidentally accessed during a dive and on the opposite side are two screw-in pushers at 8 and 10 o’clock respectively. These are used to start, stop and reset the flyback chronograph. Hours and minutes are displayed centrally, as are the chronograph seconds (blue hand) and minutes. It’s also equipped with a device for zeroing the second's hand to enable perfect synchronization with a reference signal.
The dial is clearly legible under all lighting conditions and in complete darkness because of the luminous white markers, which stand out strongly against the shark grey, textured background and give it the perfect shine, that is not too poish and not too less shiny. Engraved on the screw back are the champion’s signature and the depths of his final awe-inspiring record that is 126 metres, achieved with a single breath. Also is engraved a fish if noticeable at te case back, ultra-strong and corrosion resistant, this is one ‘Serious Diver’s Watch’.It’s not a limited edition but presumably, Panerai will keep production volumes reasonably low. The estimated Price will be EUR 18,900.
