The Dyson Hair Dryer carries a remarkable digital motor V9, that stands the real power behind the hair care technology of Dyson. Small, light and fast, the Dyson digital motor V9 sits at the heart of Dyson’s hair care technology. Its 13 blade impeller spins at 110,000 rpm, generating 3.5 kPa of pressure. At 27 mm diameter, it’s small enough to fit in the handle, and is acoustically tuned for sound quality. With Dyson master gilder, Karen Haslewood, the brand is a delicate craft of leaves of gold, each 0.1 microns thick and hand gilded. Under Karen’s guidance the engineers after a few failures have skilled through practice to gild the Dyson Supersonic hair dryer.

 

 

 

 

 

What makes Dyson special is its peculiar detail and measured engineering. For some, applying a primer is graded as the first step of a painting process, but at Dyson, the first layer is as essential as the final ne. The identical gesso red color of Dyson reflects the same traditional gilding techniques as used on picture frames as well as gilding artefacts. It is intended to reveal some of its color over time,helping to give each gold leafed face a distinctive patina.

 

 

 

 

 

Post the process of paint, the Dyson hair dryer follows a meticulous selection process, a 23.75K gold leaf, sourced from Florence, Italy, chosen because of its unique color and lustre. At 333 atoms thick, each leaf is incredibly delicate and is applied by hand. The gilding process uses five leaves of gold for each product, that are carefully brushed together to form a smooth and even finish.
