The Day 5 at The H.H. Maharaja of Jodhpur Cup (8 Goals) Tournament, 20th Jodhpur Polo Season, 2019 was a myriad of thrill and entertainment for the spectators as it was the semifinals day along with the Army Commander’s Cup presented by Army Commander Southern Command. The warm afternoon at the Suncity got inaugurated by jovial performance of the Mehrangarh band. The first semifinal of the day was played between Rajnigandha Achievers and KCR Polo. The players were introduced as Rajnigandha Achievers in blue was ready to take on KCR Polo in white. Mr. Nicholas Scortichini and Mr. Emilio Urrea Kirby were the umpires and Mr. Harshvardhan Singh was the referee for the match. Apji Vijay Singh and Mr. Ankur Mishra were the commentators for the day.

The Army Commander’s Cup, and also the second semifinals of the day was played between Jodhpur Central Academy and SUJAN. Jodhpur Central Academy was patronized by Army CDR and SUJAN was patronized by CORPS CDR. Lt. Gen. S.K. Saini, AVSM, YSM, VSM, GOC-in-C, Southern Command, Jodhpur Sub Area and H.H. Maharaja Gaj Singh of Jodhpur graced the day with their presence. The players were introduced as Jodhpur Central Academy in orange was ready to take on SUJAN in blue. Mr. Nicholas Scortichini and Mr. Gerardo Mazzini were the umpires for the match and Mr. Samir Suhag was the referee for the match.

The first match started the enticement for the day. Syed Shamsher Ali governed the first chukker scoring two goals for KCR Polo as Mr. Kuldeep Singh and Mr. Daniel Otamendi scored one goal each for the Achievers. The first chukker scores were:

Second chukker witnessed rhythmic synchronism between Shamsher Ali and Abhimanyu Pathak as both coordinated to score one goal each for KCR Polo. For the Achievers, Sawai Padmanabh Singh took the charge of the ball passing an elegant stroke to Kuldeep Singh who converted it into a striking goal winding the second chukker scores at:

Achievers started the third chukker to get the lead for their team. Sawai Padmanabh Singh moved dexterously overriding the field to add two goals to take Achievers ahead on the scoreboard as no goal was scored for KCR Polo. The scores at the end of third chukker were set at:

The fourth and final chukker had Shamsher Ali hitting a long shot to score for KCR Polo as Daniel Otamendi scored the last goal of the match for the Achievers winning the match by an overall score of 7 goals to 5. The final scoreboard was:

The first chukker had an all star beginning as all the players displayed their marked game from the first minute itself. Mr. Simran Singh Shergill and Mr. Brad Mallet scored one goal each for SUJAN as R.K. Janmejai Singh and Mr. Dhruvpal Godara scored one goal each to equalize the score for Jodhpur Central Academy. The scores at the end of first chukker were:

Simran Singh Shergill dominated the second chukker scoring two goals for SUJAN as Syed Basheer Ali tackled the ball all through to score a stunner for Central Academy winding the second chukker scores at:

The third chukker had all the scintillating strokes and passes by both the teams as the duo of the young promising star Janmejai Singh and the experienced Dhruvpal Godara scored one goal each for Central Academy. Dhananjay Choudhary scored two magnificent goals that proved the game changer in favor of SUJAN as the scorecard stood at:

The match still had all the game left to decide the winners. Dhruvpal Godara added one goal to equalize the scores, but it was the day in favor for SUJAN. Brad Mallet and Dhananjay Choudhary both scored a goal for SUJAN’s victory over Central Academy by 8 goals to 6. The final scoreboard was:

Lt. Gen. S.K. Saini, AVSM, YSM, VSM, GOC-in-C, Southern Command, Jodhpur Sub Area and H.H. Maharaja Gaj Singh of Jodhpur magnified the presentation ceremony and awarded the Army Commander’s Cup to the winning Team SUJAN and prizes to the runner up team.
