Battling It Out In The Semi-Finals Of Cavalry Gold Cup

The semi-finals of Cavalry Gold Cup started off with an intense zeal to fight off the battle.

The second semifinal, Rajnigandha Achievers vs Cavalry ASC, kicked off at 4pm at the AEC ground. A warm-up session before the match ended as soon as the umpires, Martin Pascual and Cdr Akhil Sirohi, blew the whistle for the match to start. Cavalry ASC, playing in orange, were awarded a 0.5 point lead before the match started as they fell short of a handicap against Rajnigandha Achievers. Playing in the colour of royalty, Rajnigandha Achievers were quick to score a goal. Matthew Perry scored a fabulous first goal and brought Rajnigandha Achievers in the lead. The match resumed from the centre and Matthew Perry, blazing off in the wood, scored another one in no time. The score after the goal was 2 - 0.5, with Rajnigandha Achievers in the lead. Cavalry ASC couldn't score in the first chukker. The first chukker winded up with one more goal from Rajnigandha Achievers. The score after the opening chukker was:

The second chukker kick-started mm an intense battle for the semifinals. The first half of the chukker didn't until Matthew Perry hit a powerful shot towards the goal. The match progressed and no goal was scored till the last minute. A great play by Gaurav Sahgal and Matthew Perry converted into a goal by Gaurav Sahgal. The score after the second chukker was:

The play resumed with both the teams battling to score when a shot from Matthew Perry marked the first goal of the chukker. Naveen Singh opened the scoring for Cavalry ASC as he scored a brilliant goal from the 60’ penalty spot. A foul hit taken by Hurr Ali was converted into a goal by Gaurav Sahgal. The score after Gaurav's goal was 7 - 1.5. Matthew Perry hit two back to back goals in no time to help Rajnigandha Achievers extend the lead. The scoreboard holders didn't even get time to update the scores and Matthew Perry hit Rajnigandha Achievers’ 10th goal. The third chukker ended at:

The last chukker kicked off with a goal from Gaurav Sahgal for the Rajnigandha Achievers. Rajnigandha Achievers were on fire in the match and Hurt's goal just extended their run for the goals. Naveen Singh scored a consolation goal for the Cavalry ASC team and the score was 12-2.5 with Rajnigandha Achievers in the lead. Matthew Perry hit a goal to end the match. The first match of the day, Garcha Group/ Aravali Polo vs APRC - NAVY, kicked off at the Army Equestrian centre at 2:30pm. A warm-up session before the match ended as soon as the umpires, Martin Pascual and Shamsheer Ali, blew the whistle for the match to start. APRC - NAVY, playing in white were awarded a 0.5 point lead before the match started as they were a handicap short to Garcha Group/ Aravali Polo, who stepped out in the field in blue. The first chukker didn't witness a lot of goals. The only goal of the chukker was scored by Manuel F. Llorente for Garcha Group/ Aravali Polo from the 30’ penalty spot. The chukker witnessed an intense battle between the teams as scoring was quite difficult in the opening chukker. The score after the first chukker was:

The second chukker began with Manuel F Llorente scoring one more goal for Garcha Group/Aravali Polo. A 30’ penalty was converted into a goal by Manuel F. Llorente. The score after Manuel's goal was 2 - 0.5 with Garcha Group/ Aravali Polo in the lead. A great effort from Cdr Akhil Sirohi was blocked mid way by Manuel Llorente and Angad Kalaan's defence play. Angad Kalaan, racing with the ball towards the goal, surpassed the defence to score the third goal of the match. One more goal in the dying minutes of the second chukker by marked the end of first half. The score was:

APRC-NAVY - 0.5

 

Resuming the match from the half-court, Garcha Group/ Aravali Polo led the game. A brilliant effort from Manolo Llorente just missed the goal and APRC - NAVY quickly resumed the play in search for a goal. The only goal of the chukker was scored in the last minutes by Manuel F. Llorente where he converted a 60’ penalty into a goal. The powerful spot hit from Manolo ended the chukker at:

Garcha Group/ Aravali Polo - 5
APRC-NAVY - 0.5

 

 

The last chukker of the match kicked off with APRC-NAVY finding the goal for the first time in today's match. The first goal for APRC-NAVY was done by Deepak Udar. The score was 5 - 1.5 after Deepak's goal. APRC-NAVY were getting back in the game when Deepak Udar pulled a muscle. Keeping up with the spirit of the game, Udar returned to play for his team. Satinder Garcha scored a goal to extend Garcha Group/ Aravali Polo's lead. The match was leaning towards Garcha Polo/Aravali Polo's side and the result was quite evident but APRC-NAVY didn't give up easily. Cdr Akhil Sirohi scored a goal from the 40’ penalty spot to add to APRC-NAVY’s side. Deepak Udar scored one more goal in the finishing minutes to end the match at:
