Giovanni Segantini played an important role in the revival of Alpine painting and symbolism in the 19th century. It houses 50 of Segantinni’s great art pieces, especially the most symbolic triptych symbolising nature, life and death in the Alpine landscapes. 2) Engadiner Museum :

 

 

The museum justifies its ancient look with 14 rooms that display the traditional, cultural interiors. Built in 1906, on the passionate initiative of a collector, it encompasses the typical features of an old engadine house with its roman inscriptions, and oriel window. It was transformed into a museum by the famous architect Nicholas hartmann. The museum provides a great insight into the lifestyles of the local families in the area. Thus it is the perfect place to get a sneak peek at the archetypical dwellings and humble interiors of the valley, showcasing traditional stoves and archeological findings.

3) Lake Staz :

9) White Turf :

 

 

A unique event for the elites and tourists, the white turf is an exciting horse racing tournament amidst the chatter of the excited crowd and the smell of gourmet catering engulfing the place. The snow polo world cup in St. Moritz is an event of its own kind. Titled to be the birthplace of snow polo, the game that began 36 years ago is now played across the US, China and Italy. Polo entered St. Moritz in 1899, when the British soldiers built the first polo field here. The St. Moritz polo club came into existence in 1959, with Peter Robert being the first president. Though the original idea was to turn this game of polo into a summer sport , the target ground was turned into an athletics practise zone. The first tournament on the frozen lake was organized in 1985 to compete for the glorious Cartier Trophy and ever since then, snow polo has been a much awaited event in the polo calendar, usually conducted in the last week of January. The event has reached such heights that it requires a planning of almost three weeks in setting up the required logistics. A lot goes into the preparation of the polo ponies who are fitted with additional gears to help them retain a firm grip over the ice surface.
